Within a few minutes walk to:
![]() "An ideal location right behind the beautiful Paseo Joan Borbo and the yacht harbor with its palm tree-lined promenade, 2 minutes walk to the beach - and still only about a 15 minute walk to the Ramblas/Gothic Quarter and most major museums and galleries". The apartment is toward the beach end of a small quiet street in the district Barceloneta ("little Barcelona"), which is the old fishing quarter of Barcelona. Among the views from your balcony are the yacht harbor ("Port Vell"), a glimpse of the open sea, and our local 18th century parish church. Beautiful sandy beaches, long beach and harbor promenades, some of the best seafood restaurants in the city (including an award-winning 100 year old little gem right across the street), bars and picturesque terraces. You can rent a bicycle around the corner, cycle down to a beach cafe to enjoy a great breakfast on a sunny sea facing terrace. Or make your own breakfast in the apartment and enjoy it on the balcony. The English Fastnet cafe & sports bar is a block away. The Barceloneta Nautical Athletic Club, nearby,
has a great free-weights and aerobics room, indoor and outdoor swimming
pools, sauna, restaurant, and its own
private beach.
Easily reached on foot(or bicycle or rollerblades) : The Olympic Village, with its "Icaria Multiplex
Cinema"(movies in English) and many seaside restaurants and clubs and the
Port Olympic Yacht Harbor;
the "Maremagnum" Entertainment Complex with
its exclusive shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs; Europe's largest
Fish tank, the "Aquarium", and the 3-D cinema
complex "Imax"; The beautiful Park Ciudadella
(built, if we are not mistaken, by Napoleon); The Gothic
Quarter and the 11th century gothic Cathedral
(within
whose beautiful and hallowed walls can be found much of the history of
Catalunya.); The Ramblas;
the Medieval part of the city which contains
many palacios and museums (The Picasso); Place
Real, with its very interesting and quite excellent restaurants,
cafes and clubs. A bit of history can be found here: some bullet holes
from the Spanish civil war still remain in the walls.
You will also want to visit the ancient but trendy El
Borne. This district of bohemian artists, ancient churches,
boutiques, galleries, cafes, restaurants, jazz clubs and specialty
shops also has the beautiful and ethereal 12th century Basilica
Santa Maria del Mar.
